As a foreign language in Indonesia, English is mostly used in teaching and learning process only. It is not used in day to day communication. Thus, learners may not be able to have adequate practice using English in their environment which result in the lack improvement of their English. Besides, the lack of practice makes learners not accustom to the differences structures, between English and Indonesian. This in turn, causes them to make errors in using English, especially in the productive skills, that is, writing and speaking.
Nevertheless, the teaching of writing seems to receive the least attention from teachers among the language skills. Students may not have enough practice in writing and may not be given enough feedback from the teachers. In relation this, error analysis is important to find out how students learn a language, their progress in learning, their problems, and the areas where improvements need to be made. All these issues led researcher to carry out this study.

Based on the researcher findings, some suggestions are proposed to improve the students mastery in English especially writing skill. For the teachers, it is suggested that they give more chance to students to practice writing using English. In addition, the teachers should focus more on the use of verb forms on tenses, articles, prepositions, and singular and plural markers. Furthermore, it is also important for the teacher and the students to note on the differences between English structure and the native language which seems to be the dominant source of the errors.
