ABSTRACT : The determination of the beginning day of the month in qamariyyah calendar is a classic problem that is always current, leaving the problem that has not yet ended. Until now, we often still experience the difference among Islamic oganizations in determining the beginning of the month due to the difference in the use of the method. There are two kinds of methods of determining the beginning of the month, namely reckoning method and the ru'yat method. Ru'yat and reckoning are two methods used to determine the beginning of the month.
