English is one of the important languages to learn in school. There are four skills that should be mastered by learners. One of them is listening. Listening is vital in the language because it provides input for the learners. Pronunciation is part of speaking. Pronunciation is also important in communication. The incorrect pronunciation can make ambiguity misunderstanding and different meaning
Problem of the research are: (1) How is the students’ listening achievement of second semester students at STAIN Tulungagung? (2) How is the students’ pronunciation achievement of second semester students at STAIN Tulungagung? (3) Is there any correlation between students’ listening and their pronunciation achievement of second semester students at STAIN Tulungagung?
Purposes of the research are: (1) To know the students’ listening achievement of second semester students at STAIN Tulungagung. (2) To know students’ pronunciation achievement of second semester students at STAIN Tulungagung. (3) To know whether there is any positive correlation between students’ listening and their pronunciation achievement of second semester students at STAIN Tulungagung.
Method of the research: Correlation research design. It is intended to find out any positive correlation between students’ listening and their pronunciation achievement of second semester students at Tulungagung. The method of collecting data is test. The technique of data analysis is using Pearson Product Moment.
The formula of Pearson Product Moment as follow:
The finding of the research was that the r_xy = (0,286). Whereas, “r†table significance at 5% = (0,361). It is not significant but it is positive although low correlation. It is known from r_xy is lower than “r†table = (0,286< 0,361) but coefficient correlation (0,20 – 0,40) is low correlation. This means that there was positive correlation between the students’ listening achievement and their pronunciation of second semester students at STAIN Tulungagung. In other word, the students’ listening achievement of second semester students, there were low associated by the pronunciation mastery
